It’s Teacher Appreciation Week!

Teachers in our Early Learning Center give their whole hearts and a whole bunch of energy to provide phenomenal care to their students every day. So we’re excited to spend a little time appreciating and honoring them this week.

Miss Felecia, ELC Director

What is one thing you love about your job?

I love building relationships and strategic planning.

What motivates you on challenging days?

Remembering that challenges are temporary! I can learn and earn in the moment.

What is something you have learned from the kiddos in our ELC?

They are communicating all day.

Miss Patricia, Pre-K Teacher

How long have you been teaching?

I hold a a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching children for 30 years, a profession that I truly love. I look forward to teaching your child to prepare them for kindergarten and the world we live in.

Miss Alex, Preschool Teacher

What motivates you on challenging days?

I always remind myself that what I am doing IS making a difference. All the little steps are to ensure these kids are ready for everyday life.


Fun fact: Do you have a secret talent or hobby?

I really like to read and collect comic books. Batman is my favorite! I also have a first edition copy of Spawn and I think that is cool. That’s the series that sparked my interest in comics in the first place.

Miss Alonna, Toddler Teacher

What is something you have learned from the kiddos in your classes?

Some kids need a different way of working on things to get [the skill]. I love seeing all the kids everyday knowing I am helping them learn new things everyday.

What motivates you on challenging days?

Coming into work with many kids to see and great staff to be around.

Miss Tammy, Kitchen

What is something you have learned from the kiddos in our ELC?

They are all different and similar but everyone of them will take a piece of your heart.

Miss Kelsi, Kids Quest Coordinator

What is one thing you love about your job?

I love watching the kids grow and learn.

What do you like to do for fun outside of work?

I love to go camping, and being at the lake on a boat.

What motivates you on challenging days?

Coffee.

Fun fact: Do you have a secret talent or hobby?

Working with my cricut!

Miss Chase, Float

Fun Fact: Chase also works with school-aged children at our Kids Quest Before and After School program!

The YWCA Early Learning Center is a full-time childcare program for toddlers and preschoolers in the Topeka region.
