Upcoming Event Details: All YWCA Events
Join us in Topeka at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library to view The Clothesline Project and show solidarity and support for victims and survivors of domestic violence. The Clothesline Project’s mission is to increase awareness of the impact of abuse, to honor the strength of survivors, and to provide a way for them to courageously break the silence that often surrounds their experience.
Come to speak up and speak out or listen and support this annual poetry open mic at Washburn University’s Memorial Union Underground. The event is October 21 from 1:30-3:00 PM, and snacks and beverages will be provided.
Washburn University students, staff, faculty, administration and the greater Topeka community are welcome to join the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment in conjunction with Washburn University professor and author Dennis Etzel, Jr., and professor Dr. Jericho Hockett.
This event will provide a safe space for our community to speak-up and speak-out against relationship violence and sexual assault or to share words of encouragement, empowerment and support for survivors of violence. If you are not in the space to share, please feel free to come and listen to the words of others. Counseling and advocacy services will be available.
After the open mic, stick around to help decorate signs for the annual Week Without Violence March & Rally on Friday, October 24.
Join us in Alma at the North City Park Shelter to view The Clothesline Project and show solidarity and support for victims and survivors of domestic violence.
