YWCA Northeast Kansas is actively recruiting candidates for their new Youth Leadership Council (YLC), to serve as a youth advisory board for the YWCA. Each year, up to 24 female, trans or non-gender conforming youth will be accepted to be part of the YLC for 12 months. During each annual term, students will develop their leadership skills and styles, explore college and career opportunities, develop and participate in volunteer opportunities, receive individualized mentorship and coaching, and will be able to use their voice to influence change and advocacy efforts through the organization. Students will run for YLC positions to chair and serve on youth-driven committees.
The 12 month commitment includes attendance at 10 of 12 monthly council meetings, completion of 12 volunteer hours, and active participation in a committee.
Seniors who wish to serve on the Youth Leadership Council are encouraged to apply as well! If, after graduation, the student will not reside in the Topeka area, 6 months as an active member and at least 8 volunteer hours will be considered a complete term.
The 2018-19 Youth Leadership Council will have their first YLC meeting on Saturday, January 12th, 2019.
Completed applications are due by 11:59pm on Friday, November 30th, 2018. All applicants will be notified of application status on or before Friday, December 21st, 2018.
