We need your help!
Amid the federal government shutdown, we have learned that the crucial funding that has already been allocated to our Center for Safety and Empowerment – YWCA Northeast Kansas is likely to be impacted by the federal government shutdown. This money has already been promised, but cannot be disbursed if a resolution does not happen soon.
Just last year, Kansas saw the number of domestic violence homicides break a twenty-year record. Accessing our critical crisis services can be a matter of life and death. The funds currently being withheld allow us to provide our core services of shelter, hotline coverage, counseling, assistance with protection orders, and other crisis services.
Take action today to ensure our critical services for survivors continue:
- Contact the Kansas Delegation and explain the impact of the shutdown on you, your community, and our services:
Senator Pat Roberts Senator Jerry Moran Representative Steve Watkins
- Express your support for the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
- Sign up to volunteer
- Contribute today to the YWCA
