Front Desk and Administrative

Welcome to the first stop for all visitors to YWCA Northeast Kansas!

As the first person that visitors see when they walk through our front doors, these volunteers set the tone for our space to be welcoming, safe, and supportive. They greet families dropping off and picking up children, survivors seeking resources at the Center for Safety and Empowerment, donors, and community groups and leaders who partner with YWCA working towards a better future for the Topeka area.

Shifts are a minimum of 2 hours within the hours of 9-5:30, M-F. Some training required.

Center for Safety and Empowerment

Volunteers for the Center for Safety and Empowerment support survivors on their journey of hope and healing.

The YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment (CSE), provides free and confidential services to victims of domestic and sexual violence, stalking, and human trafficking in Shawnee, Jackson, and Wabaunsee Counties in Kansas. We offer safety, support and prevention. Volunteers play a critical role in supporting survivors as they access different CSE services.

Volunteer opportunities are available in the main office, rural office (Holton), Day Center, domestic violence shelter, and pet foster program. To inquire about volunteer needs and upcoming volunteer trainings, please contact the CSE Trainings and Volunteer Coordinator.

Youth Services

From snack time to story time, these volunteers have too much fun!

Volunteers in our Youth Services programs support both families and YWCA staff by working with children in our Early Learning Center, Kids Quest Program, and FEATS. These volunteers get to read stories, play games, explore STEM+ activities, and chaperone field trips. Additional benefits include:

  • Squeals of joy

  • Endless questions to answer

  • Snack time
